Plants have a calming effect on humans, probably because humans have a subconscious need to be around nature. We are made in nature, and it’s just recently we started cramping ourselves one after another in concrete buildings. But, here we are, and we can’t change and go live in the mountains again.

What we could do, though, is bring nature closer to ourselves. The easiest way to do that is to invest in some plants. Plants bring life to your workspace and create a cozy ambiance. But it is not just that.

Obviously, plants enhance air quality. Their photosynthesis process enriches the environment with oxygen. They also increase humidity, filter pollutants, and reduce airborne dust levels.

The best plants for cleaner air are Dracaena, English Ivy, Boston Fern, and Areca Palm.

What isn’t commonly known is that plants can improve memory and concentration. In a paper in the Journal of Experimental Psychology, psychologists concluded that adding houseplants to workspaces increases workers’ productivity by 15%.
